What makes Private Label Different from other programs?Two things make the Connect:SM Private Label Program unique in the marketplace. First, the principals at BillWise wanted a vehicle focused on creating value in the marketplace. Second, the Connect:SM Technology Platform was designed to enable robust multi-level billing and payment processing in a secure fashion and offers extensive web service APIs for integration with external applications.
At BillWise, we view billing and payment processing as platform services that support a business application or service. Often, similar to most billing vendors, this is a simple service or license arrangement whereby a customer has access to use one of the Connect:SM applications and our APIs. Where the Connect:SM Private Label Program comes into play are those situations where billing and payment processing are more strategic and are a large part of the value sold by our customer. Essentially, our customer is building their business around the Connect:SM Platform and needs a different set of technical capabilities, a contractual and financial relationship that fits their business objectives, and a more unique level of support from BillWise.
The second point revolves our our technology. We had to add certain capabilities, such as multi-level billing and payment support, because these situations demand certain software capabilities not normally required in a standard license or SaaS arrangement. Using the multi-level billing and payment support functionality example, this capability goes beyond what is typically found in reseller modules by extending the multi-tenant concept of billing and payment processing to our customer and then to their customer, and so on. This is only one example. Under the Private Label Program, BillWise works with our partner/customer to create a joint solution that really drives value in the marketplace. It is much more of a collaborative effort than typically possible under traditional licensing or SaaS arrangements.

What Type of Business Relationships Do You Support?Well, anything is possible. Each Private Label opportunity is evaluated on its own merits and the resulting business relationship is what is in the mutual best interests of all parties. This could range from a traditional reseller relationship to an investment relationship, or anything in between. In general, we look for opportunities that can drive our billing and payment processing deep into desirable niche markets. Since BillWise is a closely-held private company it has the freedom to explore relationships that venture capital or publicly owned billing vendors typically would not.
